The Variety SIG will usually meet on the first Monday of the month at 3 PM.

* Feb 5, 2010, Friday "Tax Time" Lance Johnson will discuss various tax items. Any changes to be aware of.

Thumb for Safe Computing."

The best computer security system these days is right between your ears. We have all heard of or have experienced - viruses, worms,
Trojans ... Spyware & malware & scams ... Oh, my. There are many good tools to use in creating a security net on your system, both
free and for purchase or subscription. Anti-virus, anti-spyware, anti-malware programs are all parts of our arsenal. These are part of
good computer security. Regardless of what programs you use, there are also some simple, common sense, rules of thumb to consider
whenever you log on. Bring your questions for a Q&A session at the end of Jolyn's talk. If you plan to attend, please reply to

New Members should drop by for a review of our Club's assets and resources.
This is an opportunity for members to meet each other and learn about the
Hilton Head Island Computer Club. A great starting point for those of us
who don't know what we don't know about computers. If you haven't joined
yet, come see what the fun is all about!

PCs Just The Basics - Pete Everett
This new Special Interest Group will offer basic information for relatively inexperienced users.
Typical topics: Desktop, Files, Folders, Documents - creating and saving, moving, sorting.
Finding and opening programs. Searching – for “lost files”, Google information, help sections,
control panel. Using Task Manager to avoid hang-ups. Security.
HHICC Website information. . . . and more.
This pilot program will seek your input about these and future topics.

Review features, as well as discussing “how-to” and problem solving.

Question and Answer SIG - Jolyn Bowler
Drop by with your questions, solutions, problems and answers to discuss
with other members. No matter what you don't know about what you don't know
about computers, bring it on. We start at 4:00 and go till we run out of
topics. We focus on Windows, but MAC users are welcome also.

Review program features, tools and operations of this very flexible image
editing program, while answering questions about “how-to”.

Macintosh SIG

We're there for all Macintosh users, from the beginner, to those in the
middle, to the advanced. Most topics deal with OS 9 vs OS10, as well
as browser and mail problems. Our motto: "There are NO stupid questions!"
Meets Third Wednesday of every month, 4 PM in the Resource Center, no meetings in July and August.
